Been busy using the blade on my scoop to scrape up samples of the icy dirt. Plan is to move some of it over to the TEGA ovens for analysis.

MagSafe for Headphones
Magnetic Audio For those who don’t know: MagSafe is the name of the power connecter used by Apple laptops, the genius is this — the power cord is kept in place magnetically. What this prevents is the destruction of your precision $2,000 laptop on tile floor, hard drive dead, case cracked, screen broken, motherboard fried. If you have ever tripped on a power cord you immediately see...

What. The. $%#@.  Some extremely strange TV show.  A couple years ago, MTV put out a little show called Wonder Showzen. It was a pretty special show that had children and puppets doing things that you don’t normally see children and puppets doing. This video was their original unaired pilot.  It is a long video, and so extremely strange.

Nuclear Paintings
Nuclear Explosions Could Date Paintings  Elena Basner, a Russian curator, claims to have developed a method by which one could determine whether or not a piece of art was created before or after 1945 based on isotopes released into the environment — specifically Caesium-137 and Strontium-90. These isotopes penetrate the soil and biology and are evident in post war art as natural...

Laptop Violation
Inspection of Laptops at Borders US Customs and Border Patrol agents have the authority to ‘randomly’ seize you laptop, camera, cell phone, iPod and other electronic devices to take a peek at what you have stored on your device — without a warrant. Courts have set a precedent: there’s no need for a warrant when a person is seeking to reenter the country, agents can search...

Expert Gunslinger, fixing Hollywood
Arms Dealer Making his living as an Arms Dealer, Richard Hooper has provided firearms and training to such films as Children of Men, Casino Royale and the newly released Wanted; ensuring that the gun slinging is done correctly — as best as he can. “Everybody has a notion of how to hold a firearm,” observes Hooper. “You hand a gun to someone, and they always put their...

Extremophiles →
Bacteria & Such “Earth is filled with incredibly strange creatures, from thermophiles like the one seen here that can survive in temperatures up to 121 degress Celsius to the bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans that thrives in 2000 times more ionising radiation than would fry a human. New Scientist features a survey of ten “extremophiles.” The headline is a bit off though,...

Vin Diesal Babylon A.D. looks to be Vin’s next film. The movie is based on a French Sci-Fi Novel, Babylon Babies. Both the book and film center on a hardened assassin named Toorop who is commisioned to transport a young girl from Russia to Canada. Needless to say, things don’t go smoothly. The movie has been directed by Mathieu Kassovitz of Gothika. It is slated for release on August...

Nerd Fighting Mental Floss magazine has an article about what to do, and not do, in a fistfight. Mind you it was written by a guy who has never been in a fight — interesting. However, there is some interesting advice. Don’t get in a fight Use your hand’s heel, not a fist Find a way out Don’t kick them while they’re down Go for soft spots, like the neck Bite ...

Mars Twitter
The post below is an update from the Mars Phoenix rover; when the rover landed on, and uncovered ice on mars twitter had the news first. Hence I feel it appropriate to have added the feed to the site. The posts are distinguishable by their lack of a title, being simple text: no audio, video — you get the idea. My twitter I won’t be adding my own twitter feed to the site as I update...

Recycle CFLs
Mercury Many argue that CFL bulbs are equally as harmful to the environment as current incandescent bulbs, their evidence lies in the mercury which each bulb contains. The amount which each bulb, contains, however is exaggerated. Each bulb contains far less mercury than an old thermometer. Regardless the proper disposal of mercury is a serious issue and recycling programs must be implemented for...

Top Gear Realization
Oh and… I just realized another vital factor that makes the UK’s Top Gear so wonderful is the way it is shot, its look — cinematography. If the US version cannot match the look the chemistry won’t matter. Also important is the score. The music of Top Gear is chosen with the hand of Midas, it is all pristinely perfect. NBC has monumental shoes to fill.
